Last Ryzom Server Shuts Down

Following last week's Leanon (German) server shutdown, Ryzom's last server, Aniro (French), was shut down today with no further official details for the title's future. CM Boroshi posted the following:

Turns out that we got a little bit longer than we expected out of Aniro, but sadly I'm sure you've all heard by now that Aniro has finally gone down as well. I'm even more sorry to say that we have no fresh information

We will of course be waiting for any new information, and as soon as we get any we'll pass it on to you all via these forums if they're still up, and yubovision as well.

With this final blow, many Ryzom loyalists turned to their fan sites and forums, Ryzom.org in particular, whose members are trying to save the Ryzom IP. Xavier, site's admin, had the following new information regarding the liquidation process:

From what we have heard from both liquidators (the one from December 2006 and the second one), we have confirmation there is a dispute ("demande de revendication du fonds de commerce") over who currently owns the company's assets.

How much time it will take can change a lot from a case to another. There is first a non-judiciary demand to the liquidator, then when it is refused (which is the case here), a procedure with the "juge-commissaire" (3-6 months minimum), then a possible appeal to the court where the decision can be reversed (1 year minimum).

So it's quite hard to predict when this will be over and when the liquidation will be resumed.

In a nutshell, this means the process might take up to a year or more before a resolution is achieved.

Stay tuned for the latest news on Warcry.

It's one sad update indeed =(

I sure hope VCA pulls off a deal of some sorts, and release an open sourced client at some point.

We'll keep waiting for now...
