WarCry Feature: Podcasts

Back in mid January, we found this fella attempting to start up a podcast for the Saga of Ryzom. After listening to a few of his broadcasts, the team knew that he was on to something. Not only were his outlooks and discussions fresh (literally, from a newbie's point-of-view), humorous, open-ended, and open-minded, but his conversations also held quality. No ridiculous flames here! Talk about self-motivation for a person who joined in December!

Already gaining fans throughout the playerbase, we at WarCry decided to support Beau Turkey in his adventure of becoming Ryzom's first PodCast Newsman! Podcast 17 - Who doesn't?
Description: Another short and sweet one, all by my lonesome! :) Everyone else is off in other lands right now conquering the Monsters of Study, Moving, and Work. Next time should be back to the same ole' bunch of goofness. I talk bout the new gambling wheels, some about the cool event of Merging and a lil bout my character. Below are the links I talk about. The only music not owned by Gameforge is the song in the middle, it's "Waiting for the Night" by Depeche Mode, from their only good album, "Violator". :) Here are some screenies of the prizes you can win on the Wheel: Ladle Yubo Shield of Prestige Very cool looking! And my lil movies: ...so I filmed a BUNCH. Thing was, I wanted the screen to be big enough so that people could read what was on my screen, so they could see the whole speech and all that. I record at half size though, although since I use the highest rez it's too small. Or something like that... in other words you cant read the chat. So, I decided to go the smaller/basic approach. I typed up some key parts from the speech and some nice shots of everyone sitting around having fun. And of course, the fireworks. They were magical. Description: We're back after a week off, and what a week it has been! First off, me and the wife have been moving into a new home slowly so we have been way too busy to play or record for any significant amount of time. I did finally find an hour to record with Sam though, but when I caught him it was about 1 AM Germany time! In this 'cast I give a basic rundown of the "Stranger" event that happened on the Arispotle server recently, I also get an interview with everyone's favorite PvP'er (and lord of Atys and all sorts of other titles) SunCe! He's frank, and forgets to watch his cursewords, so cover your ears or ask your kids to leave the room. Another lovely segment from Jenna, and some fun allergy-ridden conversation with Sam! Description: OMG! Long podcasts are SO in vogue right now! PLEASE forgive us for jabbering SO much this week that we filled up almost..(gulp) 2 HOURS! But it'll make you laugh, fer crissakes. Next week we are going on a diet and will get it back down to an hour. Ish. Promise. So Sam is back this week, which rules. I missed my German friend. We talk about my gripefest and all sorts of stuff. Me and the wife have some fun chatting about what we did this week in game, and we try to keep it together, without laughing and breaking out into songs about our cats. Podcast 12 - A Day in the Life
Description: So I cover quite a few things on this LONG podcast ( 1.5 hours); including information about the music I play, a call from Mayadanava (his ideas are great as always), and a segment with Jenna named "Roleplay". Once again, she is much more professional than I ever could ever be! I was going to do the show without Sam, (he had technical issues) but today he popped up and said he could do continue. I was a little unprepared, so I got a drink, logged in, and had some fun. I would like to eventually have a many guest play session, to just hang out and talk about Ryzom. One of my many many ideas for the future. Look out!

Podcast 11 - R2
Description: This week we have the fastest forum run -thru ever. I also talk about the Ryzom Ring -- the greatest thing ever, despite what people are saying or have said regarding issues with hosting or XP. Next time you're in game, load the editor. Trust me, you'll get hooked. Then I play a new segment from Jenna about Roleplay. She will be covering the segment every week. Thanks so much! She does her research and has a nice speaking voice. Later, Sam and I jump into a silly, poorly recorded fun conversation. To be honest, when we record, my little voice recorder for Skype archives onto two separate tracks, so I am free to adjust a single voice accordingly, which this time the feature slipped my mind. Due to the side effect, my voice is going to be really quiet! Oh well, it's still really funny.

Podcast 10 - Tidbit Show
Description: It's time for a short, but sweet podcast! I'm missing Sam this week due to scheduling conflicts, but, you still have me! I ran through some manuals and found a few articles which in the past I either needed explaining, forgotten, or never knew of.Therefore I am calling this podcast the "Tidbit Show", named after the list of juicy tidbits found. Newbs might really be interested in this, and if you are not new to the world of Atys, then sit back and laugh at me.

Podcast 9 - The Hardcore Fight
Description: This week we address PvP: you either love it, hate it, or horrible at it. BE WARNED! There are a few curse-words in this one due to Sam and I getting all hyped up. We just can't help ourselves! I am still not able to put in a few other segments such as "New Player of The Week" due to time constraints. Oh well, soon... very, very soon. And I have changed the release day on the 'cast: it's now Monday. Thanks to my new job kicking my rear and with Sam being alllll the way in Germany, I am going to have to move recording day to Saturday or Sunday, and have it edited for Monday. Description: This week we have a little forum drama, again, a couple of event announcements, digging talk, and the continuation of "Choose Your Tryker Adventure"! Podcast 7 - Two Germans and a Texan
Description: That's right, Sam is back and has brought his friend Pixie to talk about...*gulp* the differences and similarities between WoW and Ryzom. Like we say, you can't ignore the 800 pound gorilla, or you wind up with poo on your face! Furthermore, we are reaching into new heights as we attempt to record more than two anchors, live! There are several difficulties when dealing with a conference type recording, such as lag, dropped calls, and the sort but that doesn't stop us from having a great time! Additionally, watch your volume please, due to audio levels fluctuating (especially when we start laughing like school children!). This is a special, LONG episode so sit back, open some Tryker wine and give a listen!

Description: This week we attempt a live in-game podcast, with Sam attempting to take me along on his trek to kill some named NPC's. The cool thing is, hearing him do this is the closest I am going to get to one of these guys for a long time. All I can say is "Click...BOOM!" I also rant a little about some things I would like to see fixed in game, but of course everyone knows that it is meant in the nicest way possible...we Atysians love our world but want to make sure it comes across in the best way possible. Please note, the sound quality is still being worked on, and I'm receiving tips from players and other 'casters alike, but it's still very much a work in progress.

Podcast 12 - A Day in the Life Description: So I cover quite a few things on this LONG podcast ( 1.5 hours); including information about the music I play, a call from Mayadanava (his ideas are great as always), and a segment with Jenna named "Roleplay". Once again, she is much more professional than I ever could ever be! I was going to do the show without Sam, (he had technical issues) but today he popped up and said he could do continue. I was a little unprepared, so I got a drink, logged in, and had some fun. I would like to eventually have a many guest play session, to just hang out and talk about Ryzom. One of my many many ideas for the future. Look out!
Podcast 11 - R2 Description: This week we have the fastest forum run -thru ever. I also talk about the Ryzom Ring -- the greatest thing ever, despite what people are saying or have said regarding issues with hosting or XP. Next time you're in game, load the editor. Trust me, you'll get hooked. Then I play a new segment from Jenna about Roleplay. She will be covering the segment every week. Thanks so much! She does her research and has a nice speaking voice. Later, Sam and I jump into a silly, poorly recorded fun conversation. To be honest, when we record, my little voice recorder for Skype archives onto two separate tracks, so I am free to adjust a single voice accordingly, which this time the feature slipped my mind. Due to the side effect, my voice is going to be really quiet! Oh well, it's still really funny.
Podcast 10 - Tidbit Show Description: It's time for a short, but sweet podcast! I'm missing Sam this week due to scheduling conflicts, but, you still have me! I ran through some manuals and found a few articles which in the past I either needed explaining, forgotten, or never knew of.Therefore I am calling this podcast the "Tidbit Show", named after the list of juicy tidbits found. Newbs might really be interested in this, and if you are not new to the world of Atys, then sit back and laugh at me.
Podcast 9 - The Hardcore Fight Description: This week we address PvP: you either love it, hate it, or horrible at it. BE WARNED! There are a few curse-words in this one due to Sam and I getting all hyped up. We just can't help ourselves! I am still not able to put in a few other segments such as "New Player of The Week" due to time constraints. Oh well, soon... very, very soon. And I have changed the release day on the 'cast: it's now Monday. Thanks to my new job kicking my rear and with Sam being alllll the way in Germany, I am going to have to move recording day to Saturday or Sunday, and have it edited for Monday. Here's to all the PvP'ers out there; see you in game, I'll be the one doing about 20 damage to you. Make sure to call my Ryzom line and leave tips, messages, or stories. Podcast 8 - We Dig, Dig, Dig Description: This week we have a little forum drama, again, a couple of event announcements, digging talk, and the continuation of "Choose Your Tryker Adventure"! Thanks again to Sam for all his infinite knowledge; He's my Obi-Wan Kenobi.... well, only if Obi-Wan was German. And played Ryzom. Sorry to Mayadanava...I had a segment recorded with him for "Get to Know Your New Player", however this 'cast ran so long I'll have to put it on next week. Sorry again Maya, I'll make it up to you. Podcast 7 - Two Germans and a Texan Description: That's right, Sam is back and has brought his friend Pixie to talk about...gulp the differences and similarities between WoW and Ryzom. Like we say, you can't ignore the 800 pound gorilla, or you wind up with poo on your face! Furthermore, we are reaching into new heights as we attempt to record more than two anchors, live! There are several difficulties when dealing with a conference type recording, such as lag, dropped calls, and the sort but that doesn't stop us from having a great time! Additionally, watch your volume please, due to audio levels fluctuating (especially when we start laughing like school children!). This is a special, LONG episode so sit back, open some Tryker wine and give a listen!

This week I talk a little bit about a KILLER Rp/PvP event I attended on saturday, as well as discuss the two factions in the game: The Kami and the Karavan. I'm missing Mad Sam this week, being that he has been a little busy and that we both keep missing each other. An 8 hour time difference can be a real hassle. Podcast 4 - Named Mobs (Click to Listen) Description: This week we attempt a live in-game podcast, with Sam attempting to take me along on his trek to kill some named NPC's. The cool thing is, hearing him do this is the closest I am going to get to one of these guys for a long time. All I can say is "Click...BOOM!" I also rant a little about some things I would like to see fixed in game, but of course everyone knows that it is meant in the nicest way possible...we Atysians love our world but want to make sure it comes across in the best way possible. Please note, the sound quality is still being worked on, and I'm receiving tips from players and other 'casters alike, but it's still very much a work in progress.
