Revelation

The forageable raw materials are spread across the land maps in the form of 'deposits'. Deposits can be super-imposed, some only being active at certain times of day, during certain seasons or in certain weather conditions. When players perform prospecting actions they 'reveal' (provoke the appearance of) 'Springs' around their current position. A spring manifests itself in the form of a particle effect (such as a spiral of circling butterflies), at the location where a given raw material can be extracted. Players perform their foraging actions directly on the manifestation of the spring in order to extract raw materials. The springs that appear depend on the prospecting actions, the skills of the prospector and the active deposits at the position of the player. Furthermore, the springs for given raw material types are always found at the same locations so players can learn that some particular material can be found at a particular spot in a location that they know well. Additional deposits can appear dynamically as a result of some dynamic system or some game event. For instance, there are occasionally events such as Kitin invasions, provoked by the game's dynamic systems, which cause fixed pieces of scenery, such as Kitin nests, to appear in the landscape. Deposits can appear in or around the Kitin nests giving the intrepid forager a real challenge with the prospect of outstanding raw materials to be had.
