Ryzom: Overview

Ryzom (originally The Saga of Ryzom) launched in September 2004 with a unique blend of science-fiction and fantasy. In October 2006, they followed with the game's first expansion: The Ryzom Ring. This critically praised expansion added a set of tools for players to develop their own custom adventure areas. In December of 2006 Gameforge purchased the title from original owners, Nevrax. Gameforge continues to develop and grow the game's features and events. Ryzom offers four unique races for players to choose from as they inhabit the alien planet of Atys. Foreign, diverse, unique and ever-changing, Atys provides a home to the proud Matis, the hedonistic Trykers, the war-like Fyros and the mystical Zorai. All the races, and the players who play them, are integral parts of complex, award-winning live events hosted by the developers, and participate in the rich and ongoing storyline. Characters in Ryzom are free to learn and develop in all the skills and abilities in the game, rather than being limited to the skills of a preset character class. The wealth and diversity of options can keep anyone busy for years. The unique and much praised community of Ryzom has developed into a tightly knit but very diverse group. The game itself is available in three languages, having strong German and French communities to go along with their English-speaking counterparts. The Ryzom Ring provides a complex, powerful and innovative set of tools that lets players become developers. In their own instanced areas, players can build and run their own live events or even scripted quests. The tools are there for players to do with as they please and the best part is, players can earn regular-world rewards when they complete them. This innovative expansion gave fans a nearly infinite supply of fresh and varied content. Ryzom has a free trial available, with unlimited time but restrictions on levels and locations. Players can subscribe to the full game for $14.99/month, or discounted rates for longer subscriptions.
